The House On 15th Street
West Texas is no country for women. Or anyone who isn’t a white, republican, heterosexual male. Stephanie Vela Anderson’s novel “The House On 15th Street” is inspired by her experiences growing up a poor, bisexual, white-passing multiracial female in Big Spring, Texas. Heartbreaking and surreal, abstract and honest, dry and poetic; the novel is a glimpse of the hardships women and marginalized people still face as they continue to fight for social equality, civil rights, and their lives while living in small, conservative communities across America.
